Dutch government support
Cybersecurity and data privacy have gained much attention in recent years, not only due to an increasing number of high profile cyberattacks, but also due to the development of new legislation that is aiming to combat the social, digital and financial costs of cyber crime. In order to guide businesses in implementing new and existing legislation, such as the NIS2, DORA and the GDPR, the Dutch government is increasingly engaging various government agencies and organs to help organizations get ahead of the criminals and implement the appropriate security measures to protect their business, employees and customers.
What does this mean for you?
As an entrepreneur you might often get the impression that the government’s efforts to improve the cybersecurity are only aimed at big organizations, however nothing could be further from the truth. If you ever wanted to implement additional security measures to protect your business and your customers but found the solutions to be abhorrently pricey, there is a solution!
The Mijn Cyberweerbare Zaak subsidy allows businesses to acquire products or services aimed at strengthening their cybersecurity. By boosting cyber resilience, your IT systems become better safeguarded from threats like cyberattacks. Small businesses can apply for a subsidy to cover expenses related to the following eight cybersecurity measures:
- Secure network and Wi-Fi access
- Password management tools
- Multi-factor authentication methods (2FA, two-step, MFA)
- Patch management processes
- Antivirus software
- Backup creation and testing
- Risk assessment and analysis (RI&E)
- Cybersecurity awareness programs
How does it work?
By applying for this subsidy, The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland) will reimburse 50% of the purchase and/or implementation price of a digital technology that falls under one of the above categories. The subsidy is applicable to the purchase of multiple products up to a maximum of €1,250 of the purchase price.
